Career Overview

Prior to joining Nottingham Business School, Abiodun has successfully undertaken various management and leadership roles in teaching and learning. He was the Course Director for the MSc Advanced International Business and MBus in International Business Programmes at the School of Strategy and Leadership, Coventry University. He has proven experience in the design, development, and delivery of courses and modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Abiodun has been involved extensively in the teaching and learning activities where he taught and led modules both at the undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and MBA) levels. He also led and supported the university’s enterprise and innovation agenda through various initiatives such as teaching and leading on the public sector executive education leadership and apprenticeship programmes. He led and supported the university’s internationalisation agenda through various initiatives such as field trips, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects. He has supervised to completion over 65 postgraduate (MBA and MSc) and undergraduate dissertations on a wide range of topics in Business and Management. Abiodun is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He has a PhD in Economics and Business Administration from European University Viadrina, Germany.


Research Areas

Abiodun’s research interests lie in the broad fields of international business, entrepreneurship, and strategic management, focusing on Africa developing economies and emerging markets in topics such as foreign direct investment, inter-organisational relationships, resource mobilisation strategies, strategic management of SMEs, strategic foresight, and Innovation Management. He draws on a broad range of theories like the social network theory, the resource-based theories, institutional theory, etc. as a meta-theoretical lens for his research. Abiodun has authored over 30+ articles in refereed academic journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. His most recent research has appeared in various outlets including Journal of Business Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, IEEE Transaction in Engineering Management, Technology in Society, Critical Perspective in International Business, International Review of Entrepreneurship, International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management. He currently serves as reviewer for top peer reviewed journals, conferences and served on various scientific committee and editorial boards. Abiodun is keen to work with PhD students and collaborate with researchers interested in international business and entrepreneurship in Africa and other emerging markets.
